FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Applications can be obtained at all participating Associated Banks and at Suds O’Hanahan’s in Beloit beginning April 7th. A $20 fee must be paid when the application is submitted. Cash or check (made payable to Beloit Riverfest) will be accepted at most locations. If you prefer to mail the application, please send to: Suds O’Hanahan’s Irish Pub, ATTN Riverfest Singing Idol, 435 East Grand Avenue, Beloit, WI 53511.
A Riverfest Singing Idol Release Form will be included with the application form. This must be signed, dated and submitted with your application and $20 fee. Minors must have a parent signature on the release form and are required to accompany you while auditioning at Suds O’Hanahan’s. You must be at least 14 years of age to register.
WHAT DO WE RECEIVE FOR THE $20 FEE?
Every person submitting the application, release form and $20 fee will be invited to audition at Suds O’Hanahan’s for a chance to move onto elimination rounds leading to Riverfest 2008. All contestants will receive one general admission ticket to Riverfest 2008 valued at $13. The final 30 contestants moving onto Riverfest will also receive a 4 day Beloit Singing Idol VIP pass valued at $52 and free parking for each day they are invited back to perform.
Only 3 contestants will make it to the final round on Sunday and all 3 will sing live on Main Stage prior to The Beach Boys concert. The 1st place winner receives $2,008 and an album recording contract. The 2nd and 3rd place winners receive consolation prizes including a chance to record a single! Consolation prizes will be determined by our sponsors including Associated Bank, Suds O’Hanahan’s and 97 ZOK.
WHERE AND WHEN WILL AUDITIONS BE HELD?
Preliminary auditions will begin Wednesday, May 21 at Suds O’Hanahan’s and every Wednesday through June 18, 2008. All contestants will be contacted with a date and time to perform. Every effort will be made to accommodate individual schedules. If you are selected to move onto the next level, elimination auditions will be held Wednesday, June 25 and Saturday June 28. Dates are subject to change so please check the website frequently for updated information.
We will maintain a communication channel with all contestants by phone or email so current and correct contact information is necessary.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I SHOW UP TO PERFORM?
You will have an assigned date and time to audition at Suds O’Hanahan’s. When you arrive a Riverfest volunteer will check your application, release form and some form of identification like driver’s license, student card, etc. Minors will not be allowed in without a parent. Each contestant will be provided a number indicating their place in line to perform. All lyrics must be memorized and sung a cappella.
After the audition numbers will be collected and each contestant will receive their Riverfest general admission ticket. Those who will move onto elimination rounds will be provided with additional information.
CAN I BRING A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT TO THE AUDITON OR COMPETITION?
You cannot play an instrument at the preliminary auditions. Lyrics must be memorized and sung a cappella. You have the option of singing with a karaoke disk at Riverfest or a musical instrument you provide.
